These are the most common races that inhabit Chaos. One does not require special permission to play these, but keep in mind their limitations. If there are suggestions for new species, or if you have a specific one in mind that isn't here or in any of the other race threads, pm an admin or put up a notice in the suggestion box.
Gargoyles: This winged people is not as animalistic as they may appear. They're humanoid, with large leathery wings, pale skin that can sometimes be grey, and rather sharp, retractable talons for hunting or climbing. Their wings can retract into their backs. In terms of speed and strength, they greatly accede the skills of humans. Unfortunately, during the day, the sun burns their highly-sensitive eyes and skin and easily causes blindness and severe burns, making it hard for them to travel about. This phenomenon has giving birth to the myth that they turn to stone during the day. That is, of course, false. They can move about during the day, but only wearing specialized masks and heavy cloaks. Nocturnal creatures by nature, at night their vision is unmatched and their sense of smell rivals that of any predatory animal. However, they can only see in black and white, and sometimes shades of dark blue. They are known to live in cities, but more often than not prefer to live in realms like Excaliber and Celestis. Usually very passive until provoked, they usually travel with a companion of some kind to take care of affairs during the daylight hours. Oddly, it seems that gryhons and gargoyles get along extremely well, hence a majority of gargoyle partners are gryphons.

Human: Simple enough, there isn't much need for description here. Humans make up a large part of the beings living in the realms. Human are the ones who established the kingdoms in the middle realm. They've begun a crusade to bring order and control to the other realms, which often results in wars. Occasionally, the human tribes and clans of the outer realms join together in an attempt to push back the middle kingdoms, thinking them weak because of middle kingdom's internal discord. Though supposedly under Mist’s control, things aren't as peaceful as some would have it. Some humans have the ability to wield magic as well as a few other things that the collapse of the realms produced.

Jin: Jin are human in appearance and nature but are a separate species, as the humans so painstakingly make known. Physically, they look exactly like human except pupiless eyes. Jins are nomadic and normally live in tribes on the grassy plains of the Outer Realms. They are excellent riders and horse breeders. They possess keen eyesight, making them excellent archers on horseback. However, they are a peaceful race and only use their skills for hunting. Once, long before the Collapse, they were an independent race. Then the humans enslaved a large number of their population as slaves. In the middle kingdom they are forced to work as menial laborers or are sold as "pets" to wealthy buyers who often treat them worse than the government work camps. Currently only Eron has set up a state of independence for the Jin and those people now try to escape to Eron or the outer realms. Though there has been political pushing lately for the abolishment of the slavery, it has been met with powerful resistance in any meeting of the kingdoms. Lately there has been an underground movement to free the Jin by any means necessary, the movement's leaders calling it the New Sun movement.

Taurian: The Taurians once had their own realm, before the collapse destroyed their once-great realm. Taurians appear human in appearance except that they are highly muscular as a norm and stand from 7 to 10 feet in height, with bronze-colored skin. Despite their size and strength -- or maybe because of it --, Taurians are well refined and high intellectual people. They prefer to work with their hands and are excellent craftsmen and architects. Their weapons and buildings are said to the best of the best and can withstand the test of time. Sadly, most of their legacy was destroy during the collapse, along with their grand library. They now wander about or live in Mist with their Goddess. They usually live about 120 years.
Unique Jobs: These jobs unique to the Taurian race
Caller- Tuarians sometimes live underground, and some of them have developed the ablitiy to sense or even call certain minerals to them from the ground.
Templar- These are the warriors and defenders of the Taurians. Mostly males, the Templar are fierce warriors who use both their intellect and massive strength. With a wide array of spells from memory and ancient texts at their disposals, the Templars use any and all means to win battles. Usually Templar use support type spells to heal or shield their allies in front, as they have little need of destructive spells: they have enough strength in brute force without magic.

Merfolk: Once classified as a fae, they were named an individual species because of their large numbers and organization. They have their own code of ethics, more strict than the fae but nothing near what most other races are. Merfolk are blessed with the ability to breathe underwater and shift between a long, scaled tail and humanoid legs. They have long torsos and arms, made for agility underwater rather than strength on land. They are also able to withstand the extreme pressure and cold of deep water. While they have no specific country -- they originated in the Mist Realm but have since spread to most other realms -- or government, there are some scattered underwater settlements around. They are valued as superb sailors and treasure hunters, though they are known to be vain as often as not.

Faes: This category encompasses rather a broad variety of creatures in Chaos, all classified as fae. There are nymphs and gnomes, fairies and pixies, imps and orcs, goblins and every other kind of wee magical creature you can imagine. They originated in and tend to inhabit the Mist Realm. As a rule, they are shy and like to keep to themselves. Most belong to a specific element of magic and tend to be mischievous and carefree. Unfortunately, after the Collapse, their numbers seem to have dwindled, or else a majority of them went into hiding during the devestation.

Elves: Elves at first glance look just like humans, but they have longer, pointier ears, and are generally slightly shorter. They are also lighter set as they don't prefer physical confrontation. The elves are very in tune with the world around them and are almost like the caretakers of what remains of the realms after the fall. They can be very clever and witty, and live in communities hidden inside the remaining forests, spending their days in bliss, away from the troubles of the human world. Another note about Elves is their long lifespan, they tend to live for so long they almost seem immortal, usually lasting for at least a few hundred years.

Centaurs: The centaurs are a very private race, preferring to travel alone or with a herd of their own kind only. Proud and sometimes vain, they may come across as aggressive or arrogant, but it usually isn't personal. Half humanoid, half horse, they are larger than normal horses and very strong, preferring staffs or bow and arrows as weaponry. They are connected to nature in ways many don't understand and have an affinity with philosophy and astrollogy. They are very wise but have absolutely no magical ability, something which many of them resent. They have protracted lives, but not quite so much so as the elves. They are often chosen as mediators in conflicts if a Taurian isn't around, as they are abjectly neutral.

Gryphons: A majestic species all around, the gryphons have been around since long before the Collapse and were probably the least affected by that period of devastation. They are half eagle or falcon, half wild cat ( usually, but not always, eagle and lion ) and are massive, averaging eight to ten feet at the shoulder when fully grown, every inch of cat body brawn muscle. Their wingspan is enormous to lift their bodies. They are the ultimate hunters, born with the keen senses and lightning reflexes of a cat coupled with the uncanny vision of a bird. Gryphons are also extremely magical by nature, similarly to dragons, and are austere creatures who crave knowledge, like the centaurs. They live extremely long lives, even longer than the elves. They don't make war upon any other races, though they've been known to have short and vicious tempers when protecting something. While they are solitary creatures, they seem to have developed a strange affinity with the gargoyle species and often take companions with them.

Anthros: Likely the second most common group besides humans in Chaos are the anthros, or half-humanoid / half-animal creatures. There are innumerable varieties of these creatures, all species being involved, some looking almost fully human while others look more beast than man. They tend to carry the characteristics of the animal they are mixed with, both physically and mentally, and are often hired for jobs according to their unique abilities. They have originated in no specific area and now inhabit all of the realms. They are so normal throughout the realms nowadays -- after the Collapse spawned so many unusual creatures -- that it is rare that someone takes an acception to them.
( use some tact when creating an anthro -- we don't require that you ask permission to have one, but I don't want to see people making a swan anthro to get an angel-like character or a dragon anthro to get a demon-like character simply to get around the fact that angels and demons don't exist in Chaos. Be creative. )
