"Why does this stuff always happen to me?"
Three hours had passed since Talan opened his eyes with a groan and put a hand to his helmeted head. A grimace spread over his face as he looked down at his control panels, all of them were on low power which meant he'd been out of commision for at least half a day or more. The moment he touched one of the screens, it flared to life as did all the others. "I have power at least......." He muttered to himself as he set about finding out just how much damage his ship had taken. The sensor system was up and running and since he wasn't dead, the unknown craft that attacked him must have bene destroyed. But then, why had the rest of gauntlet squadron not towed him back to base?
"Rook 1, this is Gauntlet leader, please respond."
Talan frowned at the lack of response and checked the damage control panel. According to the readout, the only damage he'd taken was to the secondary armor plating on the port aft section near the engine. All systems were fuctioning normaly as far as he could tell. Calmly, he switched to another frequency and hailed again. "Rook 1 this is Gauntlet leader, please respond." Again, no answer. He tapped a control and switched from transmiting to receiving and listened quietly, that was when he really started to worry. The comm channel was clean, no sound came through at all.
Not even static.
"This isn't good.......even this far out there should be some stray radio chatter....but there's nothing...." Talan frowned again and set the sensors to identifying his location, but after the first minute passed he knew that he wasn't in any known system. The computer was taking far too long searching through the star charts it had on file. And considering the fact that he was stationed at the edge of known space, he had ALL the star charts. "Wait.....there's one I haven't checked yet....." He said to himself softly and reached into a small pocket on the right arm of his flight suit. In it was a small data chip with an unfinished star chart, quickly he inserted into the data chip slot and added the chart to the others. Only a half second passed before his postion was marked on the nav screen.
He was back, back in the same world that he'd stumbled upon. The Chaos Realms.
"Oh man.......how did that happen?" He asked himself then shook his head, it probabaly happened the same way as before. He'd tried to enter hyperspace and the strange energy weapon fired at him before he could escape. But somehow the energy mingled with hyperspace around him and shot him here instead of blowing him across the sector. He nodded to himself, it seemed the most logical explanation and he was glad that he'd be able to see his friends again. "Well......I suppose I should get going." With that, he set course for the planet.
Of course as he got closer, things weren't as they seemed. Nothing was in the right places and this worried him a great deal, still he would have to land and give the ship a once over and refill the oxygen charger system. Nearly an hour later he'd passed through the atmosphere easily and cruised over a strange land that seemed to be mostly gardens. "Hmmm........this is new....but....firmillar at the same time..." The craft slowed in speed as it flew only two hundred feet about the surface, Talan glanced left, then right and finally found a place to land. A small patch of ground that held no flowers but grass next to a tree. With the anti-grav units on the underside of the ship, Talan landed quietly as he always had. The black cockpit sheath slid back and allowed him to stand, he wore the same type of uniform as he'd worn when he flew the Wave Master, only this one was black rather than light blue and the visor was still red.
"Huh.....not much of a welcome back is it?"
